ICE in LA facing off with Protesters

Washington State Republicans are pushing HB 1802, a bill that would make it illegal to be within 25 feet of a law enforcement officer after a warning.

That’s the width of many streets, even if you’re on a sidewalk or your own property. And if an officer walks toward you saying “get back,” you’re required to keep backing up.

At a time when people have been killed and ICE leadership has made claims directly contradicted by video, this 25-foot buffer makes observing and recording law enforcement even harder.

Legal disputes over buffer zones aren’t new, and courts have struck down most of these laws. This is just another attempt to push back on civil liberties, a might-makes-right approach that should concern anyone who values accountability.

Get involved. Comment on the bill. Share this.

Or, more directly on the bill here https://app.leg.wa.gov/pbc/bill/1802

Public oversight is not a crime.
